How can counselling help?

Sometimes life can feel heavy or directionless, even when, from the outside, things seem to be going well. You might notice a sense of frustration, emptiness, or confusion about what’s holding you back. Maybe you’re living with constant pressure, self-criticism, or emotions that feel out of step with what’s actually happening. Or perhaps you’ve just reached a point where old ways of coping don’t seem to work anymore.

Therapy can help you slow things down, make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface, and start to understand yourself in a different way. Together, we can look at what’s been keeping you stuck and work towards creating lasting, meaningful change.

My Approach

My approach to counselling draws on several therapeutic perspectives rather than following a single method. I combine humanistic principles with transactional analysis (TA) and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), adapting my work to suit each person’s individual needs.

At the heart of my practice is the therapeutic relationship – creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and genuine, where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. Within this space, you can begin to gently peel back the layers that may be influencing you and develop a deeper understanding of your true self.

Using TA, we can explore how patterns formed early in life continue to shape the way you think, feel, and relate to others. As these patterns become clearer, it opens up the possibility of making meaningful shifts in how you show up in your life and relationships.

Alongside this, CBT can help you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are connected, and support you in developing practical ways of responding that align with the life you want to live.
