Frequently Asked Questions

I offer one-to-one, online, phone and in-person counselling (Therapy North House Seven and Walk & Talk in Tynemouth). I’m an integrative counsellor, working Person-Centred at the core and drawing from Schema Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and Transactional Analysis (TA) where helpful.
I work exclusively with individuals. While we often focus on relationship dynamics, we do so through your personal perspective. This allows us to focus entirely on your own needs, identity, and well-being.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and typically held weekly on a regular day and time. Flexible arrangements are also available for shift workers.
While six sessions is a standard benchmark, the overall length of our work together is flexible and guided by your needs. Appointments are confirmed via your personal booking link once payment is received (at least 48 hours prior to the session).
The initial call is a chance for us to talk through what’s brought you to counselling and what you’re hoping to achieve. I’ll explain how I work, answer any questions, and outline what the process looks like. It’s also an opportunity for you to get a feel for me and whether I’m the right fit – there’s no obligation to book.
First, we’ll agree on a weekly day and time that works for both of us – my general availability is Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm. Once we’ve chosen a slot, you will receive a personal booking link to complete your payment. Sessions are fully confirmed upon receipt of payment, which is due at least 48 hours prior to the appointment.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, you can do so by providing at least 48 hours’ notice by email, WhatsApp, phone, or in person during a session.
Yes. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I hold full professional indemnity insurance and an enhanced DBS certificate.
The first session is more than just an introduction – it’s where we begin the work. We’ll go over the counselling agreement, boundaries, and confidentiality, then start to explore what’s happening for you and what you’d like to focus on. You set the pace. My role is to listen and guide, help you make sense of things, and create a space that feels supportive and grounded from the start.
If you’re in crisis or feel unsafe, please contact your GP, call Samaritans (116 123), or go to your nearest A&E.
