How can counselling help?

Sometimes life can feel heavy or directionless, even when, from the outside, things seem to be going well. You might notice a sense of frustration, emptiness, or confusion about what’s holding you back. Maybe you’re living with constant pressure, self-criticism, or emotions that feel out of step with what’s actually happening. Or perhaps you’ve just reached a point where old ways of coping don’t seem to work anymore.

Therapy can help you slow things down, make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface, and start to understand yourself in a different way. Together, we can look at what’s been keeping you stuck and work towards creating lasting, meaningful change.

My Approach

My approach to counselling draws on several therapeutic perspectives rather than following a single method. I combine humanistic principles with transactional analysis (TA) and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), adapting my work to suit each person’s individual needs.

At the centre of my practice is the relationship itself – creating a space that feels safe, supportive and genuine, where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. TA helps me understand how patterns formed early in life can influence how we think, feel, and interact with others. By recognising these patterns, it becomes possible to make meaningful changes. Alongside this, CBT can help you see the connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and develop practical ways to respond that support the life you want to live.
