Frequently Asked Questions

I offer one-to-one, online, phone and in-person counselling (Therapy North House Seven and Walk & Talk in Tynemouth). I’m an integrative counsellor, working Person-Centred at the core and drawing from Schema Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and Transactional Analysis (TA) where helpful.
I work exclusively with individuals. While we often focus on relationship dynamics, we do so through your personal perspective. This allows us to focus entirely on your own needs, identity, and well-being.
Each session lasts 50 minutes. You are welcome to choose your own days and times based on your preference, shift patterns and availability. While the industry standard suggests six sessions, typically weekly, as a helpful benchmark for seeing progress, my person-centred approach means we will simply review our work together as we go; the frequency and duration of our sessions will be up to you.
The initial call is a chance for us to talk through what’s brought you to counselling and what you’re hoping for. I’ll explain how I work, answer any questions, and outline what the process looks like. It’s also an opportunity for you to get a feel for me and whether I’m the right fit – there’s no obligation to book.
We can discuss the times that work for us both – Monday to Friday 10am to 7pm and Saturday mornings. Sessions are confirmed upon payment, which is made at the time of booking to reserve your appointment.
If you need to cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before our session, just send me an email or WhatsApp message or of course, we can discuss in our session.
Yes. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I hold full professional indemnity insurance and an enhanced DBS certificate.
The first session is more than just an introduction – it’s where we begin the work. We’ll go over the counselling agreement, boundaries, and confidentiality, then start to explore what’s happening for you and what you’d like to focus on. You set the pace. My role is to listen and guide, help you make sense of things, and create a space that feels supportive and grounded from the start.
If you’re in crisis or feel unsafe, please contact your GP, call Samaritans (116 123), or go to your nearest A&E.
